Ben Carroll is a Los Angeles actor and musician. He began his acting career as a young boy, and later studied in London at the British American Drama Academy. A select few of his theater credits include Caryl Churchill's Far Away with Frances McDormand (New York Theatre Workshop), Pang Spa (World Premiere, Chalk Rep—Outstanding Drama Lead, StageSceneLA), Gordon Gano's Run Bambi Run (World Premiere, Milwaukee Rep), Marina Abramović's MOCA Gala, The Crucible and Cabaret (Parallel 45 Theatre), Secret History of the Future (Kennedy Center) and The Hurricane (Chalk Rep). Past TV/Film credits include Liza on Demand and Accidentally in Love. He is a proud, longtime SAG member.
He also started young with music. Whether it’s a bluesy guitar riff, a romantic serenade or an upbeat pop-country summer time jam, Ben brings high energy and a retro spirit to his music. From soul to gospel and blues, classic jazz to pop, his songs combine vocal harmonies, hot riffs, and memorable lyrics. His music has been featured in films and numerous commercials. Born into and raised by a family of Grammy-winning parents (“Afternoon Delight,” 1976), Ben has written, recorded and toured since the late 90s. He put out his solo debut album Lover Undercover in 2005. His followup record Real Thing (on UK label Blue Cloud Records) was #1 for five weeks on AAA FM Radio in Ohio and was played on over fifty radio stations in the US and Europe. In 2013, he partnered with his band and guitarist/producer Adam Levy for his third record, Lighting Bonfires. His most recent solo release “SHOUT!” is a soul, gospel and delta blues record—joyous, dark and powerful. Recently, Ben has collaborated with fellow singer/songwriter Jake Goldman to write and produce music for TV, commercials and films, under the name BIG SWIM. They have produced several EPs and landed placements with MTV shows and Target. For some years now he's regularly sung and played guitar on Sunday mornings as a member of the large worship band at the Loft—a truly welcoming, social-issues-forward Methodist church in Westwood.
